In the Library with Andrew Majtenyi

Last week Fashionology was very kindly invited to an intimate soiree hosted by Canadian designer Andrew Majtenyi. It was held in the Soho Hotel in the Library, a very appropriate setting for his AW11 collection; By the Book.

In the corner of this small yet stylish room sat a rail filled with samples of Andrew’s AW11 designs – silk jerseys, velvet dresses and tailored jackets all featured a striking and original prints inspired, Andrew said, by his time spent in the British Library.

These gorgeous prints were taken from the spines of old books and transformed into elegant maxis and sharp suits while scanned images of open books with their pages fanned out made their way onto coats and mini dresses.

Andrew’s past role as a sportswear designer also shines through in this collection, with tight-fitted tops and sporting stripes.

His AW11 collection is truly stunning, with wardrobe classics to unique and stylish work wear. I look forward to seeing what Andrew has in store in September!
